Overview

Humboldt Sawmill Company, LLC (HSC) is looking for Forklift Operators to join our Scotia, CA Planer team for Swing Shift (Mon-Fri, 3:30pm - 12:00am). This is a non-exempt position at an hourly rate of $27.65 and includes benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K matching and company paid Life Insurance. Responsibilities

The Forklift Operator drives gasoline, liquefied gas, or electric powered industrial truck equipped with lifting devices such as forklift, to push, pull, lift, stack, tier, or move products, equipment, or materials throughout the grounds in a safe and productive manner.

  • Participate constructively to the movement and warehousing of products to ensure the Business Unit is able to meet customer requirements for superior products in the most safe and service-oriented manner available. 
  •  Move levers and press pedals to drive truck and control movement of lifting apparatus
  • Position forks, lifting platform, or other lifting device under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, boxes, products, or materials or hook tow trucks to trailer hitch, and transports load to designated area or truck
  • Unload and stack material by raising and lowering lifting device
  • Inventory materials on work floor, tallies product and maintains stock rotation.
  • Load or unloads materials onto or off of pallets, skids, or lifting device
  • Perform preoperational checks on forklifts and reports any/all service and operational concerns
  • Participate in the quarterly inventory audit
  • Load or unload materials onto or off of pallets, skids, or trucks
  • Communicate regularly with other team members and participates in team effort in work area

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED; Minimum two years related sawmill / planer experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Possess a current forklift operator’s license, or be able to provide proof of previous forklift operator’s license
  • Ability to operate a hand-held calculator, preferred

  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
  • This job requires eye and hearing protection, leather/rubber gloves, safety vest, safety shoes, fall protection and hard hat
  • The work environment is generally loud in noise and will be exposed to inclement weather including harsh hot/cold conditions dust, dirt, grease and machine noise
