Overview

Humboldt Sawmill Company, LLC (HSC) is looking for experienced Breakdown Hoist Operator to join our Scotia, CA Planer team on Swing Shift (Mon-Fri, 3:30pm-12:00am).  This is a non exempt position at an hourly rate of $24.65.  This position includes full benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K matching and life insurance. Responsibilities

The Breakdown Hoist Operator breaks down units of lumber for grade to sort for Planer in a safe and productive manner.

  • Breaks down units of lumber for grade to sort for Planer in a safe and productive manner.
  • Checks for rocks or other items that could damage planer knives and removes them as necessary.
  • Checks for bad incoming lumber and removes as necessary.
  • Keeps lumber straight going into feeder.
  • Keeps infeed chain straight and clean.
  • Pulls stickers when necessary.
  • Keeps equipment and work area clean
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Two to five years related sawmill / planer experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
  • Read, interpret, and understand documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals as well as instructions and memos
  • Basic Algebra and Geometry
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in writing, oral, or diagram form
