Job Purpose
Safely and efficiently assist strander operator in the processing of raw materials
In this position you will have the opportunity to:
- Maintains debarkers, strander, green screens, and associated belt conveyors
- Complete knife changes as required on machines
- Complete minor maintenance tasks to maintain operations and mill efficiency
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment, including cleaning equipment
- Operate strander as needed on a relief basis
- Perform all duties in accordance with safety rules and regulations
What do I need to be successful?
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time
- Excellent manual dexterity, visual acuity, depth perception, and hand/eye coordination
- Basic mechanical skills
- Ability to operate mobile equipment
- Ability to operate a chain saw
Education:
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
Experience:
- 1 – 2 years’ experience in equipment operation.
- Or any equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities of this position.
Work Environment
- OSB manufacturing facility with exposure to extreme heat, cold, and other inclement conditions
- Required to climb stairs, bend, stoop, squat, and lift over 40 lbs.
- Must work with extremely sharp instruments
- Must be comfortable working at heights of 80 ft or above
- When machines fail, high stress situations may arise
