Job Purpose

To monitor & operate saw/finishing line equipment and maintain the cleanliness of one’s plant area to maximize production of quality OSB in an efficient and safe manner.

In this position you will have the opportunity to:

  • Ensure safe and efficient operation of the finishing and sawline.
  • Perform minor maintenance duties such as strainer/filter changes, equipment greasing, equipment blow downs, etc.
  • Assist in the proper lock out and isolation of equipment to zero energy.
  • Maintain housekeeping of the finishing, and sawline equipment and general area.
  • Perform periodic checks on finished products to ensure quality compliance.
  • Change saws as required.
  • Ensure all stamps, stickers, stripes, stencil, piece count, and labels are correct and in place after every product and pattern change.
  • Confirm product dimensions hourly and after every product and pattern change.
  • Completely and accurately fill out all required reports and logs.
  • Gather specific data for monitoring, trending, documenting and reporting for the products produced.
  • Communicate with Control room Operator and Lab Tech. On product quality issues.
  • Provide input that would improve safety, environmental, quality, production and maintenance performance in the Finishing, and sawline systems.
  • Participate in the development of SOP’s, JSA’s, and Lock-out Procedures.
  • Perform safe start up and shut down of equipment
  • Perform any/all other duties and tasks assigned in accordance with safety rules and regulations.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned/necessary

What do I need to be successful?

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of simple equipment operation.
  • Knowledge of general equipment maintenance.
  • Time management skills.
  • Demonstrated mechanical ability.
  • Ability to read and understand safety rules and regulations.

 

Education:

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.

Experience:

  • 3 – 6 months experience.
  • Or any equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities of this position.
