Job Purpose

To supervise and manage all plant operations and activities in area of responsibility to meet production goals, quality, cost, and safety objectives. To support corporate business objectives by ensuring compliance with all standards, policies and regulations for a safe and environmentally compliant operation.

In this position you will have the opportunity to:

  • Ensure safety of all employees and contractors working in operating unit or department by driving continuous improvementtowards a true safety culture. This includes supporting all corporate safety programs; developing SOP’s, identifying andeliminating hazards, and enforcing all safety rules
  • Ensure compliance with all standards and programs (safety, environmental, quality, maintenance and manufacturing policies andprocedures) within area of responsibility
  • Follow and support manufacturing activities of the site business plan to deploy and communicate goals, objectives andperformance measures related to area of responsibility
  • Supervise subordinate supervisors and technical and production employees, including training, performance management anddaily work assignments. Includes staff and self development, preparation and communication of work schedules, as well ascoaching, counseling on performance feedback, up to initiating and assisting with corrective action
  • Assist and participate with hiring, interviewing, selection and orientation process; has significant responsibility for hiring process
  • Prepare detailed reports and maintain records and documentation according to guidelines in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams, such as production meetings, safety committee and site business teams.
  • Report promptly to appropriate managers/departments when upset conditions occur. Take appropriate mitigating actions to ensureemployee safety, plant and environmental protection, product quality, and shipping schedules. Investigate causes of upsetconditions to prevent re-occurrence
  • Prepare and manage departmental budget and assist with cost management
  • Lead and participate in capital projects, process improvement, cost reduction and continuous improvement projects
  • Participate in and/or lead all supervisory training.
  • Network with vendors, customers and key functional group managers.
  • Some travel required (10%)

What do I need to be successful?

  • 3+ years’ industry experience
  • 4+ years supervisory/management experience
  • Or any equivalent combination of experience and training that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities of thisposition
  • In-depth knowledge of manufacturing process and improvement process.
  • Knowledge of safety, health and environmental rules, laws, requirements and applicable LP programs
  • Ability to interpret and apply HR, Safety and Environmental policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of correct application of systems and processes that ensures continuous improvement
  • Ability to motivate, coach and lead direct reports through daily job assignments, team meetings, etc.
  • Ability to use computer and supporting software

Education

  • Associate’s degree in Business, Manufacturing, Engineering, or equivalent
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
