Job Purpose

The IT Business Partner has the responsibility to serve as the strategic interface with assigned business and functional areas for the purpose of business technology strategy development, solution discovery, service management, risk management, and relationship management.   The IT Business Partner will directly lead and manage a team of professionals in their respective business technology domain, as well as coordinate across all IT areas to deliver key business capabilities. As a senior level business partner, this role facilitates understanding business objectives, strategies and programs, and ensures that IT strategies and priorities are aligned and supportive of the business needs.  

In this position you will have the opportunity to:

  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with business stakeholders and acts as a liaison between IT and the Business/Corporate Functions
  • Acts as an advisor to business leaders to shape their strategy regarding technology
  • Participates in development of business strategic planning and IT strategic planning
  • Defines, prioritizes, and manages a broad portfolio of program and project initiatives
  • Communicates business needs with appropriate IT service areas to gain alignment between business needs and technical capabilities
  • Directs and manages a team of domain-specific technology professionals to execute and support technology solutions.
  • Works with business analysts to help their business units define new capabilities
  • Gathers high-level business requirements and defines scope during initial discovery
  • Helps innovate, define and communicate new services to support business needs
  • Maintains knowledge of multiple business functions and initiatives to identify where conflicts/synergies exist between technologies and business functions
  • Maintains up-to-date awareness on LP’s application landscape, industry and technology trends, and makes recommendations for implementation of new/upgraded systems and technologies
  • Monitor training needs and any coordination of application training for the business/function
  • Translate business requirements into IT business cases and project proposals, in cooperation with IT specialists from the technology teams.
  • Evaluate and formulate functional requirement definitions and documentation, to include: thorough explanation of the need, timeline and calculating the overall value to the business/function
  • Participate in problem solving, solution recommendation & software design or selection.
  • Provide cross-application project management and ensure project tracking and communication to business/function.
  • Ensure that businesses/functions remain fully informed and engaged in project activities.
  • Aid in project execution, where appropriate.
  • Work with business units to determine value attained from completed projects
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Complies with all policies and standards

What do I need to be successful?

Experience:

  • 10+ years previous related business and technology experience required
  • Demonstrated software applications experience
  • Experience working with a corporate, business and/or functional client group highly recommended
  • Relevant industry specific experience preferred
  • Project management experience desired
  • Any combination of experience and training that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities of this position. or

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) Business, Technology, Engineering, or related field required
  • Master’s degree in Arts/Sciences (MA/MS) Business, Technology, Engineering, or related field a plus preferred
  • Specialized certifications desirable  

Work Environment

  • Office, home office, and mill environments
  • Position may be based remotely or in Nashville, TN; position may require up to 50% travel, contigent on business needs, to Nashville, TN HQ and mill locations
