Overview

Allweather Wood, LLC. (AWW) is looking for Forklift Operator for day shfit (Mon-Fri, 5:00am-1:30pm with occasional Saturdays and overtime as needed) to join our  full-line manufacturing and distribution facility in Washougal, WA.

Allweather Wood is the largest producer and distributor of waterborne preservative treated wood products in the Western USA. Operating six wood preserving plants in California, Colorado, Oregon, Utah, and Washington, these state-of-the-art facilities enable year-round production of a variety of preservative systems, fire retardants, and wood species, including Douglas-fir, Hem fir, and Southern Yellow Pine. With support from two full-service distribution centers in California, Allweather Wood partners with home improvement retailers, lumberyards, and building material dealers to bring a full range of preservative and fire-retardant lumber and plywood products to market.  

Responsibilities

The Forklift Operator drives propane or diesel-powered industrial Forklift equipped with lifting devices to push, pull, lift, stack, tier, or move products, equipment, or materials throughout the grounds.

  • Participates constructively to the movement and warehousing of products to ensure the Business Unit is able to meet customer requirements. 
  • Safely operates and drives Forklift while controlling the movement of lifting apparatus;
  • Positions forks, lifting platform, or other lifting device under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, boxes, products, or materials and transports load to designated area or truck;
  • Unloads and/or stacks material by raising and lowering lifting device;
  • Inventories materials on work floor, tallies product and maintains stock rotation;
  • Loads or unloads materials onto or off of pallets, skids, or lifting device;
  • Performs preoperational checks on forklifts and reports any and all service and operational concerns;
  • Repackages material/units as necessary;
  • Maintains work area housekeeping;
  • Participates in the yearly inventory audit.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 6 months to 1-year related experience and/or training.
  • Possess a current forklift operator’s license, or be able to provide proof of previous forklift operator’s license.
  • Interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to operate a hand-held calculator.
  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
  • Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to sit for on a forklift for the majority of the day.
  • Regularly use arms and legs to get into and out of forklift multiple times a day. Use hands, wrists, and arms to operate forklift and use legs and feet to push forklift pedals.
  • The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl when inspecting the forklift or when performing other warehouse operations.
  • The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk while working the floor, tallying products and supporting stock rotation. 
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds of Wood/Lumber with or without assistance.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

  • Work is performed in a warehouse and/or outdoor yard setting where lumber and building materials are stored, moved, and distributed.
  • Employees are frequently exposed to dust, wood particles, Treating chemicals in some locations, and moderate noise levels from machinery and forklifts.
  • The role involves working around moving equipment, elevated loads, and other industrial hazards, requiring strict adherence to safety protocols.
  • Surfaces may include concrete floors, uneven terrain, or outdoor gravel areas, which can be wet or slippery at times.
  • The position may require working in tight spaces and around high shelving areas.
  • The employee is also exposed to a variety of weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and snow, when working in or around outdoor areas of the facility.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud, requiring the consistent use of hearing protection in designated areas. Only one area exceeds noise hearing protection required.
  • The employee is required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as mandated by company policy and OSHA Standards, which may include: Safety glasses or face shields, hearing protection, safety gloves, safety footwear, hard hats and respiratory protection if necessary.
