Duties
- Operate dozers and other heavy machinery such as loaders, graders, excavators, water trucks, and dump trucks to clear land, build roads, and prepare sites for forestry operations.
- Conduct routine inspections of equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety compliance.
- Support logging activities by creating access routes and maintaining existing roads to facilitate efficient timber extraction.
- Maintain accurate logs of equipment usage, maintenance schedules, and operational reports.
- Follow all safety protocols and environmental guidelines to minimize impact on surrounding ecosystems.
- Collaborate with team members to coordinate equipment use and ensure project deadlines are met efficiently.
Skills
- Strong mechanical knowledge of heavy equipment such as dozers, excavators, loaders, graders, water trucks, and dump trucks.
- Proven experience operating construction machinery in forestry or construction sites.
- Valid commercial driver’s license with experience in operating heavy vehicles like dump trucks or tanker trucks.
- Familiarity with Caterpillar (CAT) equipment models and controls is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of construction site safety standards and environmental regulations related to forestry work.
- Ability to perform basic maintenance on machinery and troubleshoot mechanical issues promptly.
- Excellent communication skills for teamwork and safety coordination on-site. Work Location: Most of our work is in Alabama. Several times a year we may travel but most work is close enough to report back to the office each day. Our office is located in Heflin, AL.
