Overview

Mendocino Forest Products (MFP) is looking for Clean-Up (Entry Level) worker to join our Team in Ukiah, CA . This is a non-exempt position, the hourly rate for this position is $24.87.  This position includes full benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K matching and life insurance. Responsibilities

Clean Up is responsible to keep production areas clean and safe and assists in other areas of sawmill in a safe and productive manner.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Keeps designated areas, as assigned by supervisor, clean and clear of sawdust, wood chips, bark, strips and other foreign objects
  • Operates chain saw to cut up scrap lumber and broken logs
  • Uses hand tools to move sawdust, chips and bark into conveyors, bins and scoop on tractor
  • Operates Bobcat and forklift to transport debris to conveyors or disposal site
  • May pull strips off of transfer chains into conveyors to chippers
  • May keep lumber straight on transfer chains to trimmer
  • Empties all garbage cans in and around sawmill
  • Provides assistance where needed

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • One months related sawmill / planer experience and/or training preferred.
  • Must be able to read and interpret documents such as instructions, memos, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Knowledge of basic math
  • Must be willing to work multiple shifts.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and vibration from machinery such as saws, conveyors, and hydraulic systems.
  • The employee is frequently exposed to airborne particles, including sawdust, wood chips, bark, lubricants, fumes, and the risk of electrical shock.
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions, as well as high, precarious places including catwalks, scaffolding, and elevated work areas.
  • The employee is also exposed to a variety of weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and snow, when working in or around outdoor areas of the facility.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud, requiring the consistent use of hearing protection in designated areas.
  • The employee is required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as mandated by company policy and OSHA Standards, which may include: Safety glasses or face shields, hearing protection, safety gloves, steel-toe safety footwear, hard hats and respiratory protection if necessary.
