POSITION SUMMARY
The Scaler is responsible for measuring and assessing the quality and quantity of logs for the processing of payment and inventory.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Comprehend and perform all duties in accordance with rules, regulations and JSAs.
- Follow safety protocols and report hazards to ensure a safe work environment.
- Accurately measure logs, assess quality and grade following state board scaling criteria and company standards
- Maintain accurate records of measurements and assessments.
- Communicate quality defects to supervisor and resource team
- Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
- Participate in inventory management and reporting activities.
- Provide training and guidance to junior scaling personnel as needed.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Idaho Log Scaling Certificate required.
- Strong mathematical skills and attention to detail.
- Familiarity with scaling equipment and measurement techniques.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to pass a drug and alcohol test, post-offer pre-employment physical, and background check.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- HS Diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in log scaling, Logyard operation or forestry

Ability to sit and/or stand for shift, reach with hands and arms, stoop, squat, bend at the waist, kneel, walk varying distance, and climb stairs.

- Lift over 50 lbs. – frequent depending on machine center

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Must be able to tolerate all weather elements, loud conditions, airborne particles (sawdust).
