Maintenance Planner

Job Description

Vicksburg Forest Products in Vicksburg, Mississippi is searching for a Maintenance Planner. This role will be accountable for ensuring the correct amount of labor, parts and resources are determined for equipment repairs. The Planner plays a critical role in reviewing work requests, planning work orders and follow-up required after repairs are complete. They will continually look for opportunities for improvement in the future in both repair methods and equipment reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in promoting a continuous improvement culture through communication and coaching employees as well as finding opportunities for streamlining production activities and enhancing value-added processes.
  • Understand the value of good repairs as it relates to reliability and productivity.
  • Controls cost and spending to ensure budget restraints are met
  • Participate in all investigations to help improve equipment reliability.
  • Ensures safe work practices, follows safety procedures and completes required safety forms, checklists and permits.
  • Provide ideas, innovations and suggestions for continuous improvement and opportunities.
  • Ensure quality standards and order specifications are met throughout the manufacturing process of the wide range of products.
  • Other Duties as needed.

Required Skills

  • At least 2 years of mechanical maintenance experience in an industrial setting.
  • Working knowledge and experience of effective preventative/predictive maintenance methodologies and processes such as planning experience (oral and written).
  • Working knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, sprockets, bearings, valves, cylinders, mechanical drive systems and proper methods and tools for repair in an industrial environment.
  • Ability to work with others (employees, contractors, engineers and etc.) in developing job plans and procedures for repairs.
  • Understanding of accounting and financial metrics for a mill operation
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Good computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Previous wood products manufacturing is a plus.

Environmental Conditions:

  • Must be able to tolerate extreme hot, humid, cold, and outdoor conditions. Comfortable working in loud environment, around moving machinery, with vibrations and airborne particles (sawdust).
