Job Summary The Division of Forestry is seeking to hire one (1) NR Forestry Support Dispatcher in Little Falls, MN. This is a split season position with anticipated season dates of February 23 to June 5, and September 14 to November 13 annually. Seasons are subject to change based on weather conditions. Hours and days of work will vary and include weekends, evenings, and holidays. This position performs fire response administrative and dispatch work for the Department of Natural Resources. Responsibilities include: Inform the public and cooperating agencies (fire departments, fire wardens) about state and local laws and regulations regarding fire suppression by answering questions in person and on the telephone. Dispatch resources to fires as requested by incident commander using two-way radios. Access and distribute weather forecasts and fire danger indices to foresters by using computers. Looking for a Procurement Forester with experience in buying hardwood logs and standing timber. Qualified candidates will have 3-5 years experience in the purchasing of standing timber. Must have a good understanding of logging and BMP's. 2 Year or 4 Year degree preferred but not required with sufficient experience. Job is based out of the mill in Oak Ridge, TN, but will spend most of the time on the road locally.  Job responsibilities include: Locating and acquiring standing timber tracts. Cruising timber and doing evaluations. Managing timber contracts. Hiring and supervising contract logging crews. Working with local independent loggers to purchase gatewood. Being backup scaler on yard as needed Job is full time with health insurance and 401k available. A company vehicle will be provided. Pay will be determined based on skill level and experience.
