Job Purpose

To maintain the quality control of incoming logs, control the log yard and related inventory. To ensure compliance of appropriate rules and regulations by truck drivers delivering logs to LP facilities.

In this position you will have the opportunity to:

  • Controls the flow of all traffic and security for entry to facility
  • Ensure accurate weighing of log trucks, both inbound and outbound
  • Inspects inbound log deliveries per LP quality standards; coordinate with Forest Resources when standards are not met.
  • Point of contact for visitors to be allowed access to facility
  • Organize and record visitors information (name, time of entry/exit, contact person)
  • Issue visitor’s badges and ensure returned promptly
  • Communicate visitor information to appropriate departments
  • Coordinate work with off-loaders and truck drivers to ensure accurate inventory records are maintained.
  • Prepare daily and weekly reports
  • Perform all duties in accordance with safety rules and regulations.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

What do I need to be successful?

Education / Experience / Skills:

 

  • High school diploma preferred.
  • Able to possess appropriate Scaler license/certificate
  • Current, valid driver license
  • Knowledge of the LP green end log requirements
  • Knowledge of the forest management and wood fiber utilization
  • Knowledge of government regulations, logging utilization standards, log scaling regulations and grading rules
  • Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to operate small and large equipment as needed
  • Ability to operate a computer and supporting software
  • Ability to monitor multiple tasks along with equipment failures

Work Environment

  • OSB manufacturing facility office environment.
  • Moderate to high traffic area with exposure to diesel engine noise, trucks, and heavy equipment operating nearby.
